My Sewing Journal – One Pattern, Every Version, All in One Place
My Sewing Journal – One Pattern, Every Version, All in One Place
Some sewing patterns become much more than a single project. They are the patterns we return to again and again—perhaps in a different fabric, another size or for someone new.
My Sewing Journal was created for this way of sewing. Instead of scattering notes across loose papers and notebooks, it gives each pattern its own place, followed by space for every version you make.
It is a calm and practical way to remember what worked, what you changed and all the finished garments that began with the same much-loved pattern.
One pattern can become many different garments
Each project begins with a Pattern Record where you can save the original pattern information, size range, storage details and notes that may help when you use it again.
This is followed by room for six separate versions made from the same pattern. They do not need to include major alterations. One version may simply be sewn in a different fabric, in another size or for another person.
The journal includes space for:
- 30 sewing patterns
- Six finished versions for each pattern
- Pattern source, designer and size information
- Fit adjustments and notes for next time
- Photographs and real fabric swatches
- Extra printable Measurement Profiles and Versions Made pages
Save the details that are easy to forget
A finished garment often looks simple when we see it hanging in the wardrobe. Yet while sewing, there may have been small choices that made all the difference.
Which size did you use? How much fabric was needed? Which needle, thread and machine settings worked well? Was the fabric easy to sew, and would you make any changes next time?
The Versions Made pages help you record these practical details while they are still fresh. When you return to the pattern months or years later, the information is waiting for you.
Keep measurements ready for everyone you sew for
The journal also contains four individual Measurement Profiles. These can be used for yourself, family members or anyone else you regularly sew for.
If you need more, you can download and print additional Measurement Profiles. Extra Versions Made pages are also available, allowing you to continue recording a favourite pattern after the six versions included in the journal have been filled.
Along with body measurements, there is room for usual clothing size, fit preferences and personal notes. Everything can stay together with your sewing projects instead of being written on separate pieces of paper.
A sewing record to look back on with pride
Over time, My Sewing Journal becomes more than a practical sewing project planner. Photographs, fabric swatches and notes gradually turn it into a personal record of everything you have created.
It can be lovely to sit down with a cup of tea, turn through the pages and remember the fabrics, the people you sewed for and the satisfaction of each finished garment.
The journal is a large 8.5 × 11 inch paperback with 130 pages, offering plenty of room to write, add photographs and attach small fabric samples.
