Bicarbonate in the laundry
Bicarbonate in the Laundry Room
Improve the effectiveness of the detergent:
Add half a cup of bicarbonate of soda to your usual detergent.
Bicarbonate helps balance the pH of the water, making your detergent work better and your clothes cleaner.
Eliminate odors:
To remove strong odors from clothes, add half to a full cup of bicarbonate of soda to the washing machine during the wash cycle.
This works especially well for sportswear and towels that may have a residual odor.
Softening clothes:
Use half a cup of bicarbonate of soda as a fabric softener instead of commercial fabric softeners.
This helps soften clothes and is gentler on sensitive skin.
Clean the white on the shoes:
Mix some water and bicarbonate of soda into a paste and rub the paste on with a toothbrush. Wipe with a damp cloth.
Smell fresh in shoes:
Sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on your shoes and leave it on overnight.
Shake out and vacuum the bicarbonate in the morning to remove bad odors.
Remove stains:
Make a paste of bicarbonate of soda and water and apply directly to stains on clothes before washing.
Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing the garment as usual.
For tougher stains, combine bicarbonate of soda with vinegar and scrub gently.
Chlorine odor on swimwear:
Rinse out your swimwear with some bicarbonate of soda and water.
Wash as usual.
Brighten up white clothes:
Add 1 dl of bicarbonate of soda to the laundry of white clothes to help keep them bright and fresh.
This can also help remove yellowing and graying that can develop over time.
Freshen up the washing machine:
Run an empty wash cycle with hot water and a cup of bicarbonate of soda to clean and freshen up your washing machine.
This helps to remove any soap residue and odors that may build up over time.
Extend the life of clothes:
Regular use of bicarbonate of soda in the laundry can help reduce wear and tear on clothes, which can extend their lifespan.
By incorporating bicarbonate into your laundry, you can improve the cleanliness, smell and feel of your clothes in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective way.
